seatNew! Seat Availability in Flight Search Results

Seat availability is now displayed in the Flights Booking Portal search results. This information is sourced directly from the airline’s reservation system and distributed through the a global distribution system. This new feature is currently available for LGCY search options only.

One-way itinerary.
Roundtrip itinerary.
Multi-city itinerary.

Airlines manage their seat inventory within their central reservation systems, where availability is controlled by booking classes. This inventory is shared globally with all agencies connected to a distribution system, allowing travel agents and booking platforms worldwide to access real-time flight availability.

Because the inventory is shared across multiple agencies and sales channels, the number of seats shown in the search results reflects the remaining availability in that specific booking class at the time of the search. As other bookings are made through different systems and channels, the availability may change dynamically.

It is important to note that the number displayed represents booking class availability, not the total number of seats on the aircraft. Airlines manage these booking classes as part of their revenue management strategy.

Seat availability in the Flights Booking Portal should therefore be considered real-time and subject to change until the booking is confirmed and ticketed.

Note on Seat Availability

As the number of passengers increases, the system will only display flights that have sufficient seats available within the same booking class. If the available seats in that booking class are fewer than the number of passengers requested, the flight may no longer appear in the search results or may be shown under a different fare.

When performing a search or quotation, always enter the actual number of passengers to ensure that the seat availability and fares displayed reflect the correct inventory. This helps avoid discrepancies during booking.

Unable to Confirm

There may also be cases where the system returns 9 seats available in the search results, but the flights booking return unable to confirm when the option is selected.

A UC (Unable to Confirm) status may occur for several reasons:

  • Inventory was taken by another booking before the airline confirmed the segment.

  • Simultaneous booking requests from different agents or systems.

  • Airline inventory control updates where the airline closes or adjusts the booking class.

  • Synchronization delays between the airline reservation system and the distribution systems.

Even when availability shows 9 seats, this only indicates that up to 9 seats may be available in that booking class, not that all seats are guaranteed at the time of booking confirmation.

For this reason, flight availability should always be considered dynamic and subject to confirmation by the airline when the booking is created.
